I'm Justin Levy — a Vice President, Senior Regional Consultant at Federated Hermes, based in San Francisco. By day I cover financial advisors across Northern California. After hours, I build software.
At work
I've spent more than 14 years in active investment management, most of them at Federated Hermes, where I work with financial advisors on portfolio conversations — mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts, and the research behind them. The part I like most is the conversation itself, especially with advisors who are hungry, entrepreneurial, and always looking for a better way to grow their practice.
After hours
I wanted to learn to code in college and kept putting it off. During COVID I finally started, and when AI-assisted and agentic coding took off, I went deep fast — building websites, iPhone apps, and small utilities I wanted badly enough to make myself. This site was the first thing I built that made me think, okay, I can actually do this. My current obsession is Just Summit, a research-summarizing tool that turns dense market notes into something you can actually read, built one after-hours session at a time.
Around San Francisco
I'm a husband, a new father, and someone who likes hard things: strength training, cycling, triathlons, trail running, skiing, and pickleball, which I am told counts as a sport if you say it with enough confidence. Living in San Francisco keeps all of that within reach — trailheads, rides, and a very good farmers market.
